The focal point of one of the Elgin Center’s main studies is the chimpanzee exhibit at Lion Country Safari. Four groups live on five islands in the park. Each day, the chimpanzees travel to a new island (via drawbridge system), find food, and gather nesting materials - replicating a nomadic lifestyle. The chimpanzees live in extremely complex social groups. The ages range from 1 1/2 to 73 years old. Chimpanzee Photo Gallery
